So, Bizcamp Galway is wrapped up for another year, we hope you enjoyed it.

Throughout the day Shane from Input Media was walking around with his video camera – he caught some of the action, and did short interviews with some of the speakers.

Getting to Bizcamp: Cairnes Building, NUI Galway

This year’s Bizcamp is on in the Cairnes Building, NUI Galway. This is the same location as last year’s event.

Below is a map of how to get to the building.

If driving, entering NUIG using the St. Anthony’s entrance will be easiest – the Cairnes building is the first building on the left when you come through this gate. There is a carpark next to to the building. You’ll find the St. Anthony’s entrance on the NUIG interactive campus map.

Demobar Galway – A pre-Bizcamp event

With the planning for this year’s Bizcamp Galway well under way (you have already registered, haven’t you?), we’ve decided to run a free Demobar event the evening before Bizcamp.

What’s a Demobar?

It’s your chance to have a beer or two (and maybe even some free ones!), a chat with some company founders, and see informal product demonstrations by some of the West’s most exciting Web & Mobile start-up companies.

I’m interested, what’s next?

Demobar is on in the Oslo, Salthill from 8.30pm on Friday September 9th. If you’re coming to Galway for Bizcamp, why not come the evening before and have a beer and a chat with some of the people involved in the development of web & mobile apps in Galway and the West of Ireland.

If you’d like to come along to Demobar, you’ll find some more information, on the Demobar Galway website. Attendance is free, but you must register through the site.

Michael FitzGerald

Founder and CEO of SaaS products OnePageCRM.com – a web application to make small companies more effective and successful in business.

An Engineer and internet entrepreneur with a passion for start-ups. Experience in product design, marketing and software/web development. Also runs client services company FitzDesign.ie

Dave Kelly

Dave Kelly set up and runs Galway-based web design & development company, Ambient Age. When not designing and building websites that make life easier for clients and their customers, Ambient Age runs mybeautyboss.com, a web application to help owners of small beauty businesses get the most from their business.

Dave previously worked as a researcher in Information Systems and part-time lecturer in web development at UCC.

Paul Killoran

Founder & Managing Director of Starlight Solutions

Paul is an innovator with a plan. A clever plan….. To build some exciting web apps that make the world that little bit better.

He graduated from NUI Galway in 2005 with a B.E. in Electronic and Computer Engineering. After that he went on to study dance and theatre performance at Bird College in London. It was at this time the fusion between the logical and the creative happened – Starlight was born.

These days, Paul is at his happiest when constructing multi-user web environments, realising his vision for improving the web and pioneering intelligent web applications. He has a keen interest in development of mobile web and the science behind social software. “The web is not about technology, it is about people and their desire to communicate. The web is our vocabulary.”

Elaine Divilly

Having spent six years in publishing during which she stimulated the growth of Golden Egg Productions into a nationally recognised publishing brand, 2010 was the year Elaine Divilly decided to share her knowledge and expertise with innovative organisations as a marketing & communications consultant.

Passionate about development and growth, she has just finished a project with Galway Arts Festival and has clients in the areas of Business (SME), Education, Tourism, Hospitality and Technology. A client of hers summed it up in one line; ‘It is one thing getting a load of publicity but another thing to get it turned into results which Elaine is so successful with. In our case it was product sales’.

Siún Ní Raghallaigh

Co-founder and CEO at www.tunepresto.com, creators of unique software that lets you create original background music to match your video. Worked in film and TV production (Tyrone Productions, Ikandi Productions), one of the team who set up Teilifís na Gaeilge and rebranded it to TG4. Passion for music, media and technology.

Ronan O’Malley

Founder of Fixational – an eye-tracking company that measures how people look at internet advertising. Ronan is a software engineer and has a PhD in computer vision, developing state-of-the-art driver assistance systems with the Connaught Automotive Research (CAR) Group in NUI Galway. He has lectured in Semiconductor Technology and worked in silicon design with Intel.

Bizcamp is pretty unique for a business conference. Every one attending has the opportunity to stand up and share their area of experience and knowledge. It makes for a wonderfully friendly and collaborative environment.

There’s a time and a place for sales pitches. This is neither. So please bear that in mind if you are interested in registering as a speaker. We strongly encourage people caught in a sales pitch presentation to move to another room where you will find a presenter sharing useful knowledge.
