Designing technology that doesn't make users feel like sh*t:

I'd like to talk about the emotional impact of using the web: how many sites generate lurkers and trolls and evoke anger, jealousy or inferiority in their users. I will go through how some existing websites could improve their design to make users feel good when they use them; and an example of how by thinking about the emotional impact of your idea on a user during the design phase, you can minimise the negatives, and increase the positives: A type of emotional impact based design.

Hi There,

Pearce Flannery has asked that I register him to speak at Bizcamp Galway. He said to say he enjoyed the Limerick event and will help you in any way he can. The only issue is that he is already booked on that Afternoon so he can only be available during the morning session if that suits you.

I have documented below some details on Pearce and his proposed presentation. This has been delivered to much acclaim and is loosely based around the theme of his book - Grabbing The Oyster. If you need to discuss this presentation please do not hesitate to contact either myself (Orla Lacey) at the Pragmatica opffice or Pearce directly on 087 2446512.

Details

Pearce Flannery is the founder of Pragmatica™, and is widely acclaimed as one of the Irelands leading motivational speakers, training facilitators and business strategists. As a business coach and motivator he has presented and keynoted throughout the world and can name many of the worlds finest organisations and leading personalities from the world of business, politics and sport amongst his clients. His high impact, energetic style coupled with his life experiences has positioned him amongst the leading business motivational and conference speakers worldwide.
A former young entrepreneur of the year, marketing person of the year and best-selling author Pearce was named as Irelands leading conference and motivational speaker in 2009. Irish Entrepreneur magazine also nominated him one of Irelands Top 100 self-made entrepreneurs for 2009.

Presentation Title/Theme: Attitude Defines Altitude

Pearce will explore how we need to readjust our mindsets in order to affect the national approach to doing business in order to overcome the international pressures facing all functions in business today. As drivers of our immediate environment each of us as an individual holds responsibility for changing the paradigm, economic or otherwise. Pearce will provide some interesting and provocative ideas on how to successfully develop a winning attitude and beat the current challenging environment. We hold the key to the door of economic recovery. His presentation promises to be both insightful and topical and will no doubt be delivered in his trademark energetic motivational style.

Culture Eats Strategy for Breakfast

Team Leadership Competencies for Entrepreneurship

Assessing the team role preferences of would-be entrepreneurs by Surrounding yourself with the Right People and How to Achieve Great Teamwork

The first revolution stage in the 5-stages growth model of any company is a leadership crisis. The company’s founders are usually technically or entrepreneurially oriented; their mental energy is absorbed entirely in making and selling new product or services.

The best entrepreneurs surround themselves with people who do what they can’t do. You need to surround yourself with the right people and you need to have a clear picture of your strengths and weaknesses and your work operating profile.
